    website_front.jpgAs part of the Blue Note @ 75 celebration, the Bullettes all-female quintet will pay homage to the Blue Note artists Hank Mobley and Curtis Fuller with the photography of Francis Wolff, Blue Note co-founder, in the background. We will be so lucky as to have Anita Thomas on tenor, Isabel DeLeon on drums, Karine Chapdelaine on bass, Lianna Gekker on piano, and myself on trombone.  This quintet is a pull-out ensemble from my larger group called Shannon Gunn and the Bullettes. The performance will be from 8:30 – 9:30 PM on May 28th at the Goethe-Institut Washington in the FotoGaleria, 812 Seventh Street, NW, WDC, 20001-3718, $7/$4, (202) 289-1200

    jjI just wanted to let everyone know that we’ll be playing two times this week- Tuesday night, April 22nd, is at the Carlyle Club for a swing dance with the whole big band, and Thursday night, April 24th, we’ll be playing as a quintet at Twins for a tribute to JJ Johnson. 

    So come on out, celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM), and join us for good jazz and swing!

    Bullettes Play Basie – Live at Westminster Jazz Night March 21

    square_800_final.jpg.jpgCome on out and hear some great swingin’ sounds on Friday, March 21st at Westminster Presbyterian Church! The show starts with a gospel set at 6pm, then we’ll play some Basie tunes second set, then originals and arrangements by band members on our third and final set. This performance is part of the Washington Women in Jazz Festival as produced by Amy K. Bormet. We will also be releasing our EP, “Bullettes Play Basie” as a way to enjoy this performance all year long. The CD will be available at this concert but will not be available online. Tickets are $5 and can only be bought at the door. Westminster Presbyterian church is located at 400 I Street SW, Washington DC. Parking is available on the street, in the parking lot, and in nearby public garages. Be sure to get there early as we sold out last year. They also have delicious southern cooking available catered downstairs. We have a fantastic lineup of musicians and really look forward to playing this great music!

  • Bullettes Play Basie March 9th!

    bullettes_square_400x400.jpg.jpgJoin Shannon Gunn and the Bullettes as they swing to the sounds of Count Basie on Sunday, March 9th starting around 12 pm for a jazz brunch and recording session at Bohemian Caverns. The music will consist of arrangements made popular by Count Basie, Sammy Nestico, and Neal Hefti and will feature a full 15 piece big band. Hope to see you there! Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door and can be purchased online from the Bohemian Caverns website.

Cover is $10 and includes many people to meet and dance with. So come on out and keep that new years resolution!

  • Bullettes New Gigs Announced : Feb 25 and Mar 21

    We hope to see you at the Carlyle Club on Tuesday, February 25, at 9:00 – 10:30 pm for the swing dance with Gotta Swing! This will be a small group, most likely an octet featuring Lena Seikaly on vocals. We will also be playing as a full big band on March 21 at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 6:00 – 9:00 pm. We hope to see you there! More details to follow.

  • Bullettes Small Group to perform Holiday House Show on Dec. 15th!

    The Bullettes Small Group will be performing a Holiday House show on Sunday, December 15th at 7:00 PM in Falls Church, VA!

    Join us for an evening of Christmas and Holiday jazz with the all-women jazz ensemble in an intimate setting and a program for music lovers of all ages.

     

    Shannon Gunn and the Bullettes Small Group will feature Lena Seikaly on vocals, Karine Chapdelaine on bass, Lianna Gekker on piano, Shannon Gunn on trombone, and Halley Shoenberg on alto/clarinet.

    Suggested donation is $20 (no donation suggested for children.) All proceeds go to the musicians less a 10% donation to Homestretch Transitional Housing.

    Doors open at 6:00 pm; performance begins at 7:00 pm.

    Light refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. Feel free to BYOB.
