  • Sponsor anyone?

    Sponsor anyone?

    Why sponsor?

On March 23, 2012, the Bullettes will be performing at Westminster Presbyterian Church in SW DC. This church puts on a Friday Night Jazz concert every week featuring local performers from the DC region. They have a regular audience of between 200 – 400 people, mostly locals and people coming in from work to enjoy some good southern cookin’ and real jazz.

If you’d like to market to the southwest DC community by helping to sponsor the upcoming March 23 concert, your name or business will be thanked at the concert at each set, as well as promoted on the program. We will also put up a sign for sponsorship levels. This sponsorship would help off-set the cost of the new band stands. Here are the rates:

“Grenadier Level:” $25 =  business card on program and mention of thanks at the concert,  thanks  at the end of any videos of the concert posted on YouTube

“Knight in Shining Armor Level:” $100 = logo prominently displayed on front page of program, “Sponsored by….” on front page of program, mention of thanks at the concert, a sign that says “Sponsored by….” prominently displayed at the March 23 concert, thanks for sponsorship at the start of any videos put up on YouTube between now and the concert, sponsorship thanks at the start of any videos from the concert posted to YouTube.

  • Bullettes are back!

The Bullettes are back, and we’re so privilaged and excited to play at Westminster Presbyterian Church in SW DC on Friday, March23, 6 – 9 pm, as a part of Amy Bormet’s Washington Women in Jazz Festival! If you work in DC, it’s just a hop skip and a jump over to SW, just off the green line. And if you don’t work in DC, remember you’re going against traffic! 🙂

Hope to see you there! $5 admission, and they have a really great southern home cooking catered by SW Catering Company. It will be a full 16 piece big band, featuring Lena Seikaly on vocals!

We are certainly looking forward to it, and hope to see you there.

    Keep swingin’,

    Shannon Gunn and the Bullettes

  • Spam farm?

What do you call it when you start getting hundreds of spam messages a day? This is really weird. I mean, I appreciate the traffic, but something’s not right.

All the messages are similar in that they all contain one sentence, usually something fake like “your article was so helpful” or “thank you for your blog post.” I guess their game is to make a comment and then the message is posted automatically. Instead of making a comment, though, they were sending an actual message to the legit email through the contact form.

I guess I have to wonder, has this website been put on some sort of website list that is then sold to spammers? I don’t really know why it started all of a sudden, seems odd to me.

I took down the contact form. People can always contact me by email at bullettesjazz [at] gmail [dot] com. Spammers beware!

  • Radio play!

    Radio play!

Anyone who gets their CDs manufactured by Oasis has the option of getting one of their songs put on a sampler which will be sent to 400+ radio stations. Who knows if the disc jockeys actually listen to any of it, but we’re excited nonetheless to see this go out next week. So listen to jazz radio, and maybe you’ll hear us!
